One place, drawn twelve times. The slider moves through the whole history of a single walled platform in Jerusalem — from a bare limestone ridge above a spring, through two temples, a Roman colony, a Byzantine ruin field, an Islamic sanctuary, a Crusader church, and the Haram as it stands today.
The view is axonometric — a plan seen from above at an angle — because elevation is most of the story here. What you are looking at is not a hill with buildings on it. It is a hill wrapped in a retaining box and filled to the brim, and the buildings sit on the fill.
Reconstructions, dates and confidence tags are still under review. Where scholars disagree, the visualization shows the disagreement rather than picking a winner — the Herodian sanctuary can be placed in any of the three locations that have been seriously argued for it.
The platform surface has never been excavated. Everything above the retaining walls is inference: from the walls themselves, from digs outside the enclosure, from ancient descriptions, and from debris sieved off-site. Every shape carries a tag saying which.

In the Herodian period, the sanctuary location switch moves the temple between the three proposed positions — the traditional central one over the rock, and the northern and southern alternatives.

Start at period 1 and read the ridge — the bare rock, the spring below, how small the settled area was. Then jump to the Herodian expansion and overlay period 1 on it at 50%: the difference between those two pictures is the single largest act of construction in the history of the site. Then walk forward one period at a time and watch what is kept, what is buried, and what is rebuilt on top.
